The Astrocade has a 24-button keypad that is used for input on games and for typing (most notably in BASIC). Take a close look at the keypad (click it to make it larger). It's amazing how much versatility this little bugger added to the machine. Those keys make the difference between a plain old game machine and a REAL computer (provided that the owner has BASIC).

Keypad_tn When I first saw this machine with its tiny keypad, I thought to myself, "People typed on that!" Indeed they did. People programmed using those twenty-four keys. When a cartridge required a lot of typing, then an overlay was made that fit right on top of the keypad.

This is the place to find those overlays (make sure to click on the overlay for a better view-- and even print it if you need it).
